the aim of the project was to translate a 2d illustration made by elias aboulkacem into a 3d sculpture, while preserving the original style and character of the reference artwork. the subject is a fantasy bison — an imaginary creature with powerful shapes and refined details—reinterpreted in three dimensions through an advanced digital sculpting process.
the sculpture was entirely created in zbrush, using the software’s full potential to model organic forms such as muscles and horns and to define complex textures for the skin and fur. the goal was to remain as faithful as possible to the original 2D reference while adapting the shapes to the 3d language to make them both believable and dynamic.
for the final render, completed in v-ray, a high-contrast lighting setup was used with a cool key light from one side and a warm secondary light from the opposite direction. this setup helped create a strong visual impact, enhancing the creature’s volumes and silhouette and adding depth and drama to the scene. the result is an image that blends strength and imagination, combining digital sculpting techniques with the evocative atmosphere of the fantasy genre.
